Platform notes
What viral.app tracks on each platform, and where its numbers can differ from the platform's own.
viral.app tracks short-form video on five platforms. Each one publishes different data, so which posts can be tracked and which metrics are available differ by platform. A video a creator posts to several platforms is tracked once on each, and viral.app groups the copies into one cross-platform creative.
TikTok
Videos and photo carousels are both tracked. Some accounts and videos are restricted to regions that viral.app cannot access and cannot be tracked. Private accounts cannot be tracked.
viral.app tracks Reels. Stories are not tracked: Instagram shows their views and reactions only to the account owner, nothing about them is public, and a story disappears after 24 hours. Feed videos and carousel posts are not tracked either, because Instagram's data returns no play counts for them. If you add one as an individual video, it shows as Unsupported.
For a reel that is also shared to Facebook, Instagram itself shows the combined Instagram and Facebook views, likes and comments. viral.app reports the Instagram share only, so the number on Instagram can be higher than the one in your analytics for those reels. When a creator hides like counts, viral.app shows likes as not available rather than zero. A collab reel appears under the account that posted it, not under its co-authors.
Trial reels are shown to non-followers first and do not appear under the account until the creator shares them with everyone. Account tracking picks up a trial reel on the day it is shared. From then on its total views and its publish date are correct, but the views from the trial days are booked together on the publish date rather than day by day. To follow a trial reel from its first day, track it as an individual video.
YouTube
viral.app tracks Shorts, both through channel tracking and as individual videos. Long-form videos are not supported. Private, unlisted and age-restricted videos cannot be tracked.
viral.app tracks Reels from public Pages. Likes are all reactions combined, and saves are not available because Facebook does not publish them. Private Pages cannot be tracked.
Snapchat
viral.app tracks recent Spotlight snaps; older snaps are not backfilled. Likes are Snapchat's hearts. Stories are not tracked, for the same reason as on Instagram.
Snapchat accounts support limits of 10 or 30 (plus Pause): Snapchat's public surface only exposes an account's most recent Spotlights, around 29, so higher limits would reserve plan capacity the sync can never fill. Requests for a higher or unlimited Snapchat limit are stored as 30.
