Sync schedule
When viral.app refreshes your tracked accounts and videos, and how to get fresher data.
viral.app syncs your tracked accounts and videos at set times every day. Your plan decides how many daily syncs you get, and Schedule shows when each one runs, in UTC and in your own time zone. A sync can take up to 60 minutes to finish after it starts.
Automatic sync times
viral.app picks your sync times. Dashboards count views by UTC date, so a day's numbers close with its last sync: views gained between your last sync and midnight UTC count toward the next day. That is why the last sync of the day runs as late as capacity allows, at 21:00, 22:00 or 23:00 UTC. Your earlier syncs move with it and stay evenly spaced: two daily syncs run at 10:00 and 22:00, or at 11:00 and 23:00.
Automatic times can change when capacity does. Schedule always shows the current ones. On plans with 7 or more daily syncs, the syncs are spread evenly over the day.
Fix a sync time
On plans with custom sync schedules, admins and owners can pin any daily sync to an hour of their choice:
- Open Schedule and choose Set a Fixed Time next to the sync.
- Pick an hour from 00:00 to 22:00 UTC. 23:00 is kept for automatic timing, and hours that would put your syncs out of order are unavailable.
- Confirm that the sync won't be auto-optimized anymore, then choose Use [time] for Sync #[number].
Each sync is fixed or automatic on its own, so you can pin a morning sync and keep the last one automatic. Automatic syncs keep their spacing to your last sync, also when you pin it: pinning the last of two syncs at 18:00 moves the first from 10:00 to 06:00, and the dialog shows the new times before you confirm. A sync can be changed once every 24 hours, and Return to Auto works at any time. If you pin your last sync early, views gained after it count toward the next day.
Refresh cadence by video age
For videos, the scheduled refresh cadence also depends on how old the post is. On plans with up to 5 sync slots per day:
Plans with 6 or more sync slots per day (including hourly sync slots) concentrate the extra frequency on the freshest content:
On these plans, accounts whose latest post is less than 7 days old are checked at every sync slot, so new posts from active creators are picked up quickly. For YouTube channels, views and likes of a channel's 15 newest Shorts refresh at every sync slot while they are less than 7 days old. Comment counts and all other Shorts refresh twice a day.
Get more daily syncs
Hourly sync slots add syncs beyond what your plan includes, up to one every hour. On Basic and Pro, compare plans and their daily syncs in subscription settings. On Ultra and higher, contact support and our team adds the extra slots.
Get notified when a sync finishes
Every scheduled sync with something to refresh can send an organization.synced webhook once everything it refreshed is live, with counts of what synced and what failed. Use it to run a report or an export right after each sync instead of on a timer. Add an endpoint in Webhooks and pick organization.synced by name: endpoints that receive all events don't get it. The API reference describes the payload. Webhooks need a plan with API access.
Manual refresh
Use manual refresh when you need fresh data before the next scheduled sync. Manual refreshes can take up to 10 minutes. They use refresh credits based on the number of tracked videos refreshed.
Account refreshes use 3 credits per tracked video, rounded up per account. Individual videos use 3 credits each. Unlimited account refreshes use 900 credits. An account or video anyone on your team refreshed in the last 10 minutes isn't refreshed or charged again. See Extra credits for other billed extra usage.
