The Meta Ads integration is rolling out to selected workspaces first. Contact support if you want to be part of the pilot.
Meta Ads integration
Connect your Meta ad accounts to separate paid from organic views on Instagram and Facebook, pay creators for organic reach only, and boost posts as Partnership Ads from inside viral.app.
Once a post is boosted as an ad, its public view count stops telling you what the creator earned. The Meta Ads integration connects your Meta business portfolio and pulls the delivery numbers for every ad that boosts an Instagram or Facebook post, so viral.app can split each boosted post into organic and paid views.
With the integration connected:
- Analytics show organic and paid views separately for boosted Instagram and Facebook posts.
- Campaign payouts that depend on views count organic views only.
- Every ad that boosts a creator post is listed with its spend, status, and performance.
- You can boost a creator's post as a Partnership Ad without opening Ads Manager.
Connect Meta Ads
Open Meta Ads under Integrations and click Connect Meta Ads. You sign in with Facebook, pick the business portfolio, choose the ad accounts to grant, and optionally the Facebook Page and Instagram account your brand advertises as, then land back in viral.app. The first sync starts right away, and syncs run once a day after that.
Two things to know about the Meta login:
- Pick the ad accounts of the portfolio you selected. Selecting an ad account that belongs to another portfolio shares it with the selected one, which is a lasting change in your Business Manager.
- Grant the Page and the Instagram account as well: ads created from an existing Instagram post can only be matched to that post with the Instagram account, and boosting runs a Partnership Ad under that brand identity next to the creator.
The Connections tab lists each connection with its status:
Active: syncing daily.Error: the last sync failed and retries with the next daily sync.Access revoked: Meta revoked access, usually because the app or the assets were removed in Business Settings. Click Reconnect Meta Ads in the banner, then remove the old connection once the new one has synced. Owners and admins also get an email, with reminders after three and seven days.
Removing a connection deletes its token and the synced ad data of the ad accounts no other connection grants; a sync of the remaining connections rebuilds the reports. All granted ad accounts sync by default. Use Manage Ad Accounts to pause the ones you do not need; paused accounts keep the data already loaded. Sync Now and Sync History are in the row menu as well.
Review your ads
The Ads tab lists every ad that boosts an organic post across your connected accounts with the post, whether that post is tracked in your workspace, the ad status, spend, paid views, impressions, and when it last delivered. Filter by status, such as Active, Paused, In Review, Rejected, or Not Delivering, and switch between tracked and untracked posts. Each row links to the ad in Meta Ads Manager. Ads that do not boost an existing post (dark posts) are not listed, because they never touch a post's public counter.
The tiles above the table sum up your connected accounts: Ad Spend (converted to your workspace currency), Paid Views, Impressions, CPM, CTR, CPC, and Active Ads.
Paid versus organic views
As soon as a connection exists, the Analytics Overview adds Organic Views and Paid Views beside the total for Instagram and Facebook, the videos table gets both columns, and a post's detail page adds its Ad Spend. Posts that were never boosted simply have no paid views.
Only delivery on the post's own platform counts as paid views of that post: an Instagram post boosted with Advantage+ placements also runs on Facebook surfaces, and those plays never reach the Instagram counter, so they are not subtracted from it.
Creator payouts follow the same split. While your connections are Active and have synced, view-based campaign rules count organic views only, so paid views earn no creator CPM. If a connection shows Error or Access revoked, payouts count total views until it syncs again.
Boost a post from viral.app
Open the menu of any tracked Instagram or Facebook post and choose Boost as Partnership Ad, or click Boost Post on the Ads tab. Members and above can boost. To pick which posts to boost, see turning organic UGC into paid winners.
The dialog asks for:
- The ad account, if you have more than one, and the brand identity (your Page and its Instagram account) the ad runs under.
- The creator's partnership ad code. The creator generates it in the Instagram or Facebook app from the post's menu (Instagram: Partnership ads and content, then Generate code). A code covers one post, and the creator can regenerate it at any time to revoke it.
- A daily budget in the ad account's currency, a duration between 1 and 30 days, and up to 50 target countries.
Click Check code to verify the code before creating anything: viral.app asks Meta whether the post is ready to run as a partnership ad for your brand and whether the code belongs to the post you picked.
Instead of a code per post, you can ask the creator once for account-level permission. The dialog offers Request permission for the post's creator; the creator approves it in the Instagram app (Settings → Business or Creator tools → Branded content) or in Meta Business Suite. Once approved, the code field is optional and Check post confirms the post can run. Account-level permission covers the creator's posts that tag your brand; a code always works.
viral.app creates the campaign, ad set, creative, and ad for you and only switches them on once every step succeeded. Meta reviews the ad, delivery starts shortly after approval on the post's own platform, and the ad stops on its own when the duration ends. Until the first sync returns, the ad shows as Syncing in the Ads tab; if no sync confirms it within about an hour, it shows as Not confirmed, which usually means Meta rejected it in review. Spend is billed by Meta to the ad account you chose.
Boosts created in viral.app get a menu on the Ads tab: Pause Boost and Resume Boost change delivery within minutes, and Edit Budget & End Date changes the daily budget or the last delivery day. Ads created in Ads Manager stay read-only here.
If the boost dialog asks you to reconnect first, the connection was made without a Page or Instagram account. An owner or admin connects again and selects them; syncing keeps working in the meantime.
