Briefs are rolling out gradually. If you do not see the Briefs tab under Campaigns yet, contact support to get it enabled for your workspace.
Creator briefs
Tell creators what to make and what to avoid, add sample videos, and attach the brief to a campaign so every assigned creator reads it.
A brief is the creator-facing half of a campaign: the goals, the do's and don'ts, and sample videos that show the kind of content you want. Open the Briefs tab under Campaigns in Creator Hub to write one. Attach it to a campaign, and every creator assigned to that campaign has to read it before they continue.
A campaign holds one brief, and one brief can serve several campaigns. Members and above can create and edit briefs; viewers open them read-only.
Create a brief
Click Create Brief and pick how you want to start:
- Build it with Copilot: the Copilot asks a few questions, finds proven hooks and sample videos in your niche, and drafts the brief. You approve the draft before it is created. The brief then shows up as a card in the chat, nobody is notified, and you can open it in the editor from there. If you attached campaigns during the flow, their creators see the brief on their next visit, without an email.
- Write it yourself: start in the editor, for example when you already have a brief to paste in.
- Duplicate a brief: start from one you already have (shown once you have one). The copy keeps the text and sample videos, not the campaigns, and opens in the editor.
You can also pick a brief from the Brief column of the campaigns table, which also offers Create New Brief, and on the first step of a new campaign.
Write the brief
The editor has four parts:
- Brief Name is internal. Your team sees it on the Briefs page and wherever you choose a brief; creators never do.
- Campaigns decides who sees the brief. Creators on these campaigns get it, including creators whose assignment starts later. You can leave it empty and assign the brief later, and only campaigns that have not ended can be linked. If a campaign already uses another brief, saving moves it to this one, and the editor warns you first.
- Brief Content is what creators read. Use headings, lists, links, and images. Type
$to insert a variable such as the creator's first name, the brand name, the campaign's video target, the payout cycle, or the creator's start date. Each creator sees their own values. - Sample Videos show the kind of content you are after. Drag the tiles to reorder them. Each tile has a label field above it: name the hook, format, or line the video demonstrates, and creators see it above the video as "1. Money-glitch hook". Unlabeled videos still get their number, so the brief text can point at "sample 2".
Keep the brief short and concrete: say what the one idea is, what must be in the video, what to avoid, and which sample comes closest.
Add sample videos
Click Add Videos in the editor for three ways to add samples:
- Pick from tracked videos: choose an account you track, then the videos. Nothing changes for these videos, but if you stop tracking a video or its account, it drops out of the brief.
- Add new video links: paste links to videos you do not track. viral.app keeps them synced as reference only. They stay out of your analytics and payouts, but they use tracked-video capacity like any individually tracked video, and they are untracked again when no brief needs them anymore.
- Find videos with Copilot: the brief is saved first, then the Copilot suggests videos from your tracked accounts or the viral video library, and you pick which to attach.
Once a brief is saved, you can also right-click a video on Videos or in the viral video library and choose Add to Brief. The dialog takes the same optional label. Library videos are added as reference-only samples, like pasted links.
Save or notify
Save stores your changes quietly. Creators who open the brief see the new version, but nobody is pinged. Turn on Notify creators and the button becomes Save & Notify: every creator on the linked campaigns gets an in-app notification and an email, and has to read the brief again.
A notification reaches creators who are assigned to a linked campaign and have joined viral.app. Creators who have not read your previous brief notification yet are skipped, since they will see the newest version anyway. When nobody would receive it, the switch does not appear.
What creators see
When a brief is new or was updated with a notification, the creator gets a must-read dialog the next time they open viral.app. They scroll to the end and click Mark as Read. After that the brief stays on their page for your brand under Campaign Brief, with the sample videos below it. Variables are filled in with the creator's own details.
Creators see your brand as the sender. They never see the brief's internal name or your campaign names.
Manage briefs
From a brief's menu you can edit, duplicate, or delete it, and copy its name or ID. Deleting a brief removes it for its creators without a notification. When you move a campaign to another brief, its creators are notified only if you turn on Notify creators for that save. Removing a brief from a campaign never notifies anyone.
Use the Copilot
The Copilot has two guided flows for briefs: Create a creator brief and Find sample videos for a brief. Both are in its prompt library. The finished brief shows up as a card in the chat, with a button to open it in the editor. You can also ask it in plain words, for example to shorten a brief or to add the two best videos from a campaign as samples.
