Existing projects are available as virtual project tags, and project-based API filters are moving to tag filters. Use the migration from projects guide to plan a review-first migration with MCP before any tags or assignments are changed.
Tags
Organize videos with custom tags, project tags, country tags, exclusions, and rules.
Tags give your workspace one shared way to organize videos. Use them for campaign reporting, markets, creative angles, product lines, exclusions, and review workflows that need a clean slice of tracked content.
Open Tags from the Organization section to manage your tag library.
Tag types
viral.app uses three tag types together:
Custom tags
Created by your workspace for labels such as Product demo, Paid brief, Spark ad, or
Founder-led.
Project tags
Created from your existing projects, so project membership appears in the same tag filter as custom tags.
Country tags
Built-in market tags you can apply manually, through account assignments, or with rules for country and continent reporting.
Create and manage tags
The Tags tab lists your custom tags, project tags, and country tags. Owners, admins, and members can review the list. Owners and admins can create, edit, and delete custom tags.
Use short, specific names. Good tags describe the reporting question you want to answer later: US launch, Organic review, Hook test, or High-intent comment. Add descriptions when a tag will be used by more than one person. Descriptions make rule setup easier to review.
Deleting a custom tag removes it from videos. Project tags are managed from Projects, not from the tag library.
Tag videos manually
Open Videos and use the Tags column to add or remove tags on individual videos. Manual tags are useful when a reviewer makes a one-off decision, such as marking a post as a strong ad reference or adding a market label after checking the caption.
Use account assignments
Open Accounts and apply tags to every video from selected tracked accounts. Use them for stable account-level labels such as a creator cohort, market, product line, or ambassador group.
Workflows
Coming very soon, you will be able to use automated workflows to tag videos automatically:
Metric-based rules
Automatically apply tags when a video crosses a performance threshold, matches a metric pattern, or needs review.
AI-based rules
Use AI to classify creative angles, hooks, formats, and comments so the right tags are applied without manual review.
Filter analytics by tags
Use the Tags filter on analytics pages when you need a focused view of performance. Tag filters can include custom tags, country tags, continent groups, and project tags.
Tag filters work well for questions such as:
- Which videos from this launch drove the most views?
- How did a market perform across multiple projects?
- Which creators posted content that matched a creative angle?
- Which videos were excluded from reporting?
The filter matches videos with any selected tag, so selecting more than one tag broadens the result set.
What to do next
After your tag library is ready, open Tracking analytics to filter performance by tag. If you are still setting up tracked accounts and videos, start with Account tracking.
