Check Which Country a TikTok Account Is From
Enter a TikTok username, an @handle, a profile link or a link to one of the account's videos, and this TikTok region checker, also called a TikTok country checker, shows the country the account posts from. TikTok records the country every video is uploaded from. The checker reads the account's latest videos and counts them by that country, so you get one answer for an account that always posts from the same place and a breakdown for one that posts from several.
It is free and needs no account, no TikTok login and no browser extension.
Any public account
A username, @handle, profile link or any of the account's video links, short share links included.
Country by country
Each of the latest videos counts once, so a creator who travels shows every country they posted from.
Share the result
The page link carries the username, so you can send a teammate the result for the same account.
How to Check a TikTok Account's Region
Copy the username
Copy the @handle from the profile, or the profile link from the browser's address bar. In the app, tap Share on the profile and then Copy link.
Paste it and check
The checker reads the account's latest public videos. This takes a few seconds; an account someone checked today loads right away.
Read the country
The page shows the country most videos were uploaded from and, when there is more than one, how many came from each.
How the Region Is Determined
TikTok stamps each video with the country it was uploaded from, and it uses the country a video was posted in when it decides who sees it. That is not the language of the video, the country written in the bio or where the viewers live. The checker counts the latest videos on the profile by that stamp and names the country most of them came from, with a confidence:
- High: at least 70% of the recent videos with a location came from that country ("Based in").
- Medium: at least half of them did ("Most likely based in").
- Low: no country reaches half, which is typical for travel creators and for accounts run by a team in more than one place ("No clear home country").
With fewer than five videos that carry a location, the confidence drops one level, and a tie at the top counts as low. A video without its own upload country counts with the account's region. For a mixed account the result also shows each country's share, the country of the latest post, and a flag for every recent video: hover over a flag to see its country and date, or click it to open the video.
To see where an account's viewers are instead, use the free TikTok Audience Analytics tool, which maps the countries of the people commenting on a video.
How to Check Your Own TikTok Account Region
TikTok also keeps a region on every account, set at sign-up from the SIM card region or IP address. Only the owner sees it: in the TikTok app, go to your profile, tap the menu, then Settings and privacy, Account, User Information, Account region. TikTok lets you change it only if you meet its requirements, such as having been in that country and active on TikTok.
That account region and the country your videos are uploaded from can differ, for example after a move. The checker above reads the second one, which is what anyone can check for any public account. If you want your videos to reach viewers in another country, read how to reach a US audience on TikTok from outside the US.
What You Can Use It For
- Vetting creators before a campaign. A brand selling in the US usually wants creators who post from the US. A quick check catches accounts that say "US based" but upload from somewhere else.
- Spotting reposted or farmed accounts. An account with a US name and English captions whose videos all come from another country is worth a closer look before you pay it.
- Checking your own account. If your videos reach the wrong country, the region they are uploaded from is one of the first things to check.
- Researching competitors. See where a competitor's creator accounts post from and which markets they target.
Limits
- Public accounts only. A private account's videos are hidden, so the checker cannot read where they were uploaded.
- Latest videos only. The result reflects the most recent videos on the profile. A creator who moved recently can still show the old country as the main answer while the latest post and the newest flags already show the new one.
- No videos, no country. An account that has not posted yet has no upload country to read.
